About 3 months someone tried to break into my apt in middle of night. I saw the guy and called cops. They never got caught. Then neighbors got stuff stolen. After that Ive had really bad anxiety and waking up at night thinking ive heard things. I moved away and still hear things at night that wake me up, cell phone ringing, banging/rattling noises, alarm goes off in other rooms for no reason, hear someone climb on roof then walk in house opening doors turning lights on. One time at night i woke up and couldnt move, felt paralyzed, couldnt even open eyes but felt like spirit was controlling me. Ive seen red spots a few times that look like a laser light, Ive also seen quick flashes of light that are white. I have experienced this paralysis and white lights before the break in. Ever since the break in I have had really bad anxiety and panic attacks thinking that someone is out to get me, but is more of a hightened awareness with strange things happening almost as if poltergeist is there.

It's really weird. Before the break in i was fine. I could fall asleep like a baby and sleep all night long, and I wouldn't even worry about someone trying to get in. I was in control and confident that if someone did break in i'd beat them up or something. I feel powerless now and thought that as time goes on it would get better but its not, its not going away and seems to be getting worse. I am honestly afraid of the night now, and afraid of the dark. Pathetic isn't it since I'm 6'3 and 230lbs. I almost always wake up at night now in the whee-hours of the morning ready to defend myself. I've heard screaming noises that wake me up, and have bad dreams now. Sometimes I get really pissed off and mad at all of it which ironically helps. I need to take my life back, I dont want to go on medication but will if I have to. I keep saying im going to seek professional help but never do. I think I am ready to talk to someone now cause I am sick and tired of living like this.

Yes, my imagination is overactive which of course makes things worse. Ever since the incident I have quit my job and spent all my time with my g/f. Quitting my job was the worst thing I did because now I think about the problem more and should be working to take my mind of things to keep me grounded. I swear I thought I heard someone in my house after I moved. My mother thought I was nutz. I was too scared to check things out when it happened. I feel like if I had a gun I would feel safer and able to defend myself.

It has gotten so bad that even at my g/f's house I have slept in her room where I put stuff in front of the door so that if anyone comes in I would wake up and be able to defend myself. Then one time after I moved I thought I heard something and actually got out of the house and jumped off the roof and drove away. I was so scared cause I went to check on my parents and they didnt answer their door. It was a complete nightmare. I got back to the house when it got light out and my parents were up, they said they didnt hear me knock on the door.

Your not going crazy. Your having a traumatic disorder. You saw the person who broke into your home, and he is still free!! You have a deep fear for yourself right now. You likely need to seek professional help. Also take your life back, get active, take self defense classes or get involved in a neighborhood watch program, to better learn how to prepare for future incidents!!

It's possible your cardboard box in Times Square has holes in it. Have you looked into switching corners? This could be the cause for all of your issues.

Only kidding. Make a checklist to follow before going to bed. Such as double check all locks, turn off all the lights, make sure windows are closed and locked. Also, get a fan or something that will give you some white noise to drown out the everyday noises. Then while lying in your bed before you fall asleep, listen to every sound you hear and identify it. Once you have identified the sound, you will consciously tell your brain, these sounds are familiar and nothing to be worried about. Then you'll be able to sleep better and will only be awakened by sounds that are unfamiliar.

I think you are trying to prevent something that already happened. Accept there's nothing you can do about that situation and better prepare yourself double check locks etc. I would maybe suggest a dog or two. And leave something pleasant on the television at night. Put up pictures of loved ones so that you don't feel alone and isolated. Talk about it as much as possible. I've been robbed twice and you are right, but as soon as you moved it should get better don't rush to get over it.It may have been a spirit of fear paralyzing you. Pray over your new place and ask God to keep his angels around you & your new place.

Less than 50% of people with a problem actually seek treatment. I mean you having anxiety and being afraid is rational after a breakin. However, having panic attacks and such and not being able to really handle this on your own, even if you don't want to take medication you might want to consider talking to a therapist or a counselor for helpful advice on the situation.

While owning a firearm alone won't ease your mind alone I would look into getting a self-defense class. And a good firearms training course. If walking after dark get a good surefire flashlight I wouldn't turn it on unless it was needed. I think about a home security alarms system.

While having these tools might help and give you some security back you may need a good councelor also

Yes! The universe (and its homes) is real strong. I guess if you happen to repost your query at the Physics discussion board, you could get solutions that positioned your questions extra into standpoint. I feel the physicists have exact theories to reply questions akin to "whilst the filth and planets and all that ends does the universe? or does the blackness simply hold goin on and on?" As for, "Why is there a Universe?" you can have got to modify this question slightly; in any other case, the physics folks will provide an explanation for the "Big Bang Theory," which, I'm assuming (unhealthy unhealthy unhealthy), is not the reply you wish. So, you could ask, "Is there prohibit to the universe? And if it extends infinitely, is there a factor wherein atomic topic/power ceases to exist? or anything to that outcome. As for G/god, there's no necessity for G/god to exist and for there to be a Universe. G/god, in accordance to a couple, created the universe. But this notion is handiest adequate for the reply 'Why is there a Universe?'--no longer quintessential; but, no person, as of gift, has given a quintessential reply to the query 'Why is there a Universe?' Maybe in the future you are going to deliver us this reply.

After something like that happens to you, you do change mentally, and it will lead to physical if not dealt with. it was a trauma in your life, almost like our men suffer when they get back from war, imagine how they feel living with the fear of death every day. You do need to seek counsel to help you through this, and you should be staying with family that is close to you until this has subsided, if you do not get help, it may cost you lasting damage.....try to get involved in something worth while.....

You're normal, just scared I think. I'm no professional, though.

Are any of the noises you're hearing like creaks and groans? If so, that's just the building settling, which is normal. The rest may be a slightly overactive imagination; I have one myself.

If you think YOU'RE going crazy, you should see what I have to do to fall asleep.

You might want to go to your doctor and ask him to give you anti-anxiety medication, and to make yourself feel better, a home security system. Also I reccommend relxation excerises (i.e. Meditiation, Deep breathing excerises, Aromatherapy)
