Yeah, I'd have to agree with that. Buddy Guy may be a close second. Clapton, when he's in blues-mode, may just about tie.
Jeff Beck is probably the most technically proficient guitarist but I'd hardly consider him blues. Jimi Hendrix was the best showman. Keith Richards is the best rhythm guitarist and master
of the open tunings but definitely Stevie Ray for overall blues guitarist. Man, what a loss!

No. He's not the greatest ever. The greatest living guitar player is Jeff Beck.

SRv is good dont get me wrong
But theres still alot of the old guys whod give him a run for his money.

Check out Roy Buchanan - Second Album if you can find it or anything by Mike Bloomfield! They are in the same league as Vaughn.

He's certainly one of the best, but it makes me kind of sad to think of him. We had great seats and saw him a few weeks before he died. It started pouring rain and he switched to Couldn't Stand the Weather mid song.

It gets kinda fuzzy when you start using superlatives like "greatest". When it comes down to it theres only so much you can judge objectively then it's just opinion. my opinion..YES he is but not far behind is eric clapton.

check out willie dixon for real blues. SRV's style is more comparable to eric clapton, so no not really.
