I always try to be truthful and honest with people. Sometimes now easy way out of it. But at least they will know you were a true friend and respect you for it

Make sure you have the whole truth to tell them.

Do some research to give your friend more than just the blunt truth. Perhaps it is something for which there is hope.

Always be very polite. If we should be kind even to our enemy and be a good neighbor, then we should at least use kind words when telling our friend something that could hurt their feelings.

Just spit it out. Think of like when someone has a bandage they want to take off, they know it is going to hurt and they dread doing it. If they pull it off fast, it is over and done with. Just tell the truth and then work on helping that friend deal with the hurt

Well, I am wondering who appointed you the great bearer of truth in the first place...do you mean the 'truth' as you see it, or the truth about a bf, gf...etc. ? Perhaps best to be a friend and keep quiet? Good luck

the truth hurts, just try not to be blunt or sarcastic, otherwise it hurts alot worse to find out you were a fool and everyone but you knew the truth and makes you look at your friends like they were not much of a friend, if you had to learn something the hard way

There is no "best" way...All you can do is be honest and truthful in what you say and hope that time will heal the pain that is caused...The truth always hurts and theres no avoiding it...

Just do it and get it over with. Truth only hurts when you've been dishonest. But you owe it to the person anyway as dishonesty will never keep your friendly relationship together anyhow. You are losing in both cases but you have to do it. :o(

sometimes there is no way around hurting someone. Just be as gentle as possible and straight to the point. Honesty is the best policy.
