If you have hope and you are poor with no job, you have something to look forward to, if you are poor with NO hope, then what does that person have to look forward to. These people's souls have already died and they don't care what they do to anyone. That is part of the importance of a society where people can move up to a better situation. Give a person hope and they have a reason to live.

I agree with the answers above but would add that this manifests itself from the argument that some wacko religions state that there will be a better life after this one as long as you become a martyr for your religion. Unfortunately there are some people out there that are stupid enough to actually believe this.

Those in extreme poverty are almost always poorly educated and thus are succeptable to radical leaders who incite them to hate and violence. Also they are living in deplorable conditions and therefore need to take out their anger on someone.

You wouldn't believe how tired you get of being hungry and seeing your kids hungry and knowing you can't do anything about it. After a short time you begin to become angry. That anger can come out in all sorts of ways.

because the poverty stricken people have no hope for their own situation to improve so they want to destroy evryhting and get evryone down at their level so they can compete on a level field and maybe improve their situation. They get angry at the rich people who abuse them and exploit them and want revenge too.

Usually people who have something to lose don't risk becoming terrorists. A suicide bomber is a suicide bomber because he/she has no hope.
