What began as a harmless and humble exercise in showing support for one’s favorite local baseball club has mushroomed into something so gargantuan and irreversible that I fear baseball caps will never vanish from the sartorial landscape.Walk down any street in New York City or Ottumwa, Iowa – or, for that matter, even Madrid, Rome, Delhi or Tokyo – and you will see people wearing baseball caps: old folks, youngsters, teenagers, middle-aged fellows, men, women, children, even babies. And the caps may not even carry the logo of a baseball club, it might instead depict the symbol of some team in some other sport, or it may not have anything remotely connected to sports at all!

I think vinegar gets sweat stains out. Just dip a toothbrush in it and lightly scrub the stains and then wash in the top rack of the dishwasher.

First you should soak your hat in warm water and just scrub with a stiff brush, Then apply a little soap to your brush and scrub it some more, that should remove sweat and salt from your cap.

White vinegar will remove salt stains from leather boots.I don't see why it wouldn't work for fabric.Dip an old toothbrush in the vinegar and brush away the salt.

I put mine in the clothes washer with my regular laundry. I don't use those cap washers, I just put them in a normal load with like colors. Don't throw it in the dryer. Let the cap air dry.
Also, this isn't good for all wool caps. They may shrink in the wash or lose their shape. Hand washing is better for wool. Use Woolite or another mild detergent.

spray and wash and wash it in the dishwasher. It won't mess it up in shape and stuff washing it that way. If it's really funky let the spray and wash set for a second on it to sink in better. don't put any other soap in with it it will get it out.

For a light colored hat I use oxy-clean and an old tooth brush. If it is a dark colored hat dish soap does well, scrub with the old tooth brush rinse and let air dry. Make sure if you are using oxy-clean that you wear gloves.
