I really don't think it had anything to do with gay/lesbian preferences. The rainbow logo became very outdated. Apple is really known for their chicness, so the logo changed into a solid, cool (greys and blues) color or even a glassy looking blue. It's all just a way to modernize the look along with the times.

That is a good question, but I don't think so, I think they would have changed it in the early 90's to seperate themselves from it. Didn't they start out with a plain black apple?
