I want to boot from a CD, but the CD I have won't boot. I am wondering what type of file is needed to boot from? It is a .ini, or boot.cfg, etc... Also, does it have to be in a certain directory on the CD, any specifications, etc...

the cd has to have the boot files in the root folder, when you make it you have to make it a bootable cd, it will copy the boot files it needs from your system, make a boot partitoin, and creates boot.ini. and 2 other boot files with them

You need to use the "delete" key or "esc" to access the bios. Look closely as it may be an F-Key other than one of the above. Once in the bios...look at the boot order and make sure your CDROM is first up. Save and exit. Insert the CD and the system should give you a few seconds to press any key to boot from your CD. Be careful not to change anything you are not sure of, as it could render the system inoperable.

The cd is NOT BOOTABLE! dont even try. Wondering why you want to boot from cd anyway! If your system is running okay you have no reason too! Explain why you want it to boot and what cd it is.
