I think there should be lights, emotion, and scenery. I think the video should capture the meaning of the song through actual actions too.
I also agree that there shouldn't be naked women (or men) int he video. I think people may prefer a music video, not a porno.

Depends on the type of music and the audience you're playing it for. Usually dynamic special effects seem to catch people's eye! Good luck!

Animation would be nice. Tom Petty's "Running Down A Dream" is a great example!
