There is nothing wrong with both parents working and equally sharing the care of the children if that is what they want, or can afford. Today, in most cases there needs to be more than one income for the average family.

It really depends on what the couple decides. I think if it's possible, have the father work and the mother tend to the children. Some families can't afford to have one parent at home, but I think it's not ideal if a mom gets career hungry and neglects her children. It's different when they're older of course. But like I said it depends on the family. I just belive the mother should reside at home for the benefit of being the nuturer.

Personally, I think one parent should stay at home with the child or children until the child is at least 3 or so. It should be the parent, mother or father, who is the most nurturing who should stay home.

Another idea is that the parent who works should be the one who is most capable of earning income, and the other parent should stay home.

If both incomes are needed, the parents should stagger their work hours so that the child does not need to be in daycare. This means that one parent works days, and the other parent works either nights or evenings. This can be hard on a marriage, however.

This question depends upon a lot of different factors....ie: How much does or could each person make, can the family survive off of one income, etc.
It's really a personal decision and should be discussed thoroughly between the mother and father.
It breaks down to doing what is best for YOUR family, because something that works for others, may not work for you.

I think that the father should be the one bringing home the money. Women should be taking care of children. But it does depend on the situation. If she is single then she will have to work in order to keep her kids safe.

If the family has enough money to make it without her working then she should stay home, but if she is expecting the kids to skip out on summer camp or the newest shoes so that she can sit home all day while they are at school then no she shouldnt stay home.

I think, speaking from personal experience, that a woman usually has a natural instinct to pad the nest (so to speak) and feed her birds. It's natural for a mom to desire to stay home with her kids and raise them. But, more couples are finding that it is getting impossible to survive on only one income. Also, more couples are divorcing..so women are forced into the workforce.
Interesting question... :-)

I think that is an question with no blanket answer. Each marriage or relationship has to be taken on an indvidual basis and the decision be made that is best for that marriage or relationship.

She should stay home and take care of her kids.
Hopefully there is a Dad that can go to work and will appreciate you taking care of them and you will appreciate them busting their hiney to bring home a pay check.
