I already know that sperm can live up to 5 days in a woman's body. But what is the shortest time. My husband and I are trying to conceive.

I think it's only a few hours or something like that! Get the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler...it's a really great book! It goes into the specifics about stuff like that and is REALLY informative! Good luck on trying to conceive...I know exactly what you are going through!!

Male sperm live the shortest, and the female sperm live the longest!
So if you are wanting a girl have sex a couple days before you ovulate, and if you want a boy, have sex the night before you ovulate and the day of!
As for the actual time, i really don't know!

Sperm lives up to 48 hours inside a women's virgina, If he has a strong sperm count.

The shortest time is unknown, they say 3-5 days. Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance and good luck with getting pregnant!! :)
