ill keep either out, thanks! sufficient water will compress in the cylinder without burning, and crack a piston rod. sugar if it passes through the filter will act as an abrasive and wreck rings, etc, or settle in the fuel lines and form a varnish and keep fuel from flowing....

Water or sugar are not going to do much. If you just want to have some fun, then put a quart of Cod Liver Oil and a quart of Brake Fluid in the tank. The engine will spew out really foul smelling oil fumes for weeks and stink up everything around it. This will cause no damage.
If you want to destroy the engine, put about two pounds of 33 % nitrogen fertilizer in the tank. This is very corrosive and will eat through the pistons in a few hours, one the car is started.
Get Even ! Have Fun !

I honestly do not know which would be worse b/c both are extremely bad. I am sure it would be expensive to fix either way.
My ex -boyfriend had someone sugar his tank and it never ran well again. It pretty much destroyed it. So, if you are thinking about doing this to someones car, it will cause a lot of damage and it could land someone in court. Under normal common sense, I would think that a person who owns a car would know to put gas in it and nothing else. Otherwise, they should not be driving. Having gas locks and has buttons that are only accessible through the inside of the car, can help deter those crimes from happening.
Good question by the way.

There has been an urban myth for years that sugar in a gas tank will somehow blow up your engine. It isn't true. Sugar may plug your fuel filter, but usually it will just sit on the bottom of the tank. Water will not plug the fuel filter, but it won't burn either so the vehicle just won't run. Neither will cause much damage, but either should be taken out of the tank when discovered.

Sugar probably. Water gets into the gas tank on its own in small amounts. And you can extract the water more easily than you could sugar. What do you think you're doing... lol

sugar will completely destroy the motor. water can just be drained or if you dont like the starter keep cranking it over it'll end up out. sugar when it hits the motor it almost immediatly fries the pistons, piston rings and fills the whole block have disassemble the WHOLE motor and replace hundreds of dollars in parts. plus the labor for it and for that labor will be outrageous!!!!!!! and if your asking for pointers on doing it please dont go that far! slash a tire or something not that i would but i wouldnt want my whole car destroyed atleast 70% of the time when sugar is in the tank the car ends up at the junk yard

Sugar will destroy an engine. You would need a lot of water to cause damage.

Sugar is much worse. The granules in your engine can cause some major damage.

well it depends on the quantity of each...if a lot water..it would be worse....since gas is oil based it will float on water...so if you put a couple of gallons of water in the tank and the fuel pick up which is located at the bottom of the tank...will only pick up water...and if it's really cold out it will freeze...so whose car are you going to attack....if your looking to just screw up the engine use bleach...

with water the motor will not run, with sugar your in need of major repairs as compared to just draing the tank and refill with good gas.
