I had that problem. I had all my music in my work computer, I put it on my Ipod and found a way to get it into my home computer. Go here and download this software: http://www.kennettnet.co.uk/software/podutil.php
Install it and just follow the instructions that are on that website. You can even choose HOW you want them to go back to your computer... by genres, artist, etc. The only drawback is that while transferring, every 50 files that it transfers, you'll get a pop-up... a reminder to buy the program if you like it. So you have to be there and click "ok" every 50 files that are transferred. But it's free so I'm willing to sacrifice my time for all my music! Anyway. I know it works so try it. :)
And about transferring into your Windows Media Player, once it's in your computer, just import it. Hope this helps!
Also, I re-read your question once I was done with my answer... I might be wrong but you can't transfer the files straight from the Ipod onto a CD. It has to go into your computer first. Unless there's some sort of Ipod attachment with a CD Burner but I don't think a CD can hold so many gigs!! So, actually, no, you can't do that. No CD can hold that much info. Ok. Bye!

If your music is on your itunes, then it is on your computer. So go into my computer and find your itunes folder with your songs, right click on the songs that you want to import to Windows Media, then there should be a propt that says 'Open With' and Media player should be an option.
Now as far as making a CD, you will need a CD burner installed in your hard drive. If you have that then there is a program on download.com, and it's called "Copy NOW" download that. Do the same process above, but this time send them to the Copy Now program, and click on "Burn" (at the bottom) then watch it work.... Hope this helps. Later.

You may have some real work to do... the music you have stored on your iPod will probably not show up, because they are stored as invisible files. If you use a Mac, you can go into Terminal and find them on the iPod, I am not sure if you can do anything similar from a Windows computer. Good luck.

What you can try to do is open My Computer and right click on the iPod and choose Open as Portable Media Device. Upon opening it there should be a file in the iPod called Music, it should have other files (like F49 and so on) each of these files hold your music. Copy each to your computer (such as drag and drop onto your Desktop), it should take a while. You will have all your sogns on you computer but the names will be WAY of so you might have to rename them all.

Hook up the USB cable between the iPod and the computer. An icon (typically) will come up stating that you installed a removable drive (E: or F: or something). You can then browse the contents of your iPod, then "drag" copy what you want to your CD burner drive or whatever hard drive subdirectory you want.

To my knowledge, you cannot take music from an ipod and put it anywhere, I went to the apple store and asked and I tried it myself. The music has to already be in your itunes library to burn cd's, then you put the songs you want into a playlist and go from there. I heard that there may be software out there that can do what you're asking, but I have no idea where it is, sorry.

Alright.. Let me stretch my fingers. Okay, Listen up. If you want to burn a CD, just look for a radioactive waste sign on the upper right side of I-Tunes(you have to be in Purchased or Library, In this Lime wire incident,Library) and click on that. You have to put in an emety disk when it promps you. There you go. (Warning! YOU CAN ONLY GET MAXIMUM 15 SONGS ON EACH CD OR THEY WILL SOUND WEIRD! Thanks, And if you have anymore questions e-mail me at clankandmatt@yahoo.com. I've Love Limewire, don't you?

Plug your I-Pod into your computer with the cable that you use to download songs onto your I-Pod. Then go into your Windows Media Player and there should be an icon that says from portable device or something like that.

plug your ipod in... then just find it by right clicking on start then choose expore then find your ipod on list on the left side..it's just like a harddrive (couse it really is) then click on it. once opened. find the folder where music is in and then choose all songs and drag and drop into a folder on whatever other harddrive that you might have on your pc/laptop... maybe rename the music and thats it.. works for me.. and ofcourse theres tons of programs out there that would do it.. but this is easy (believe it or not) and it's free ; )
