No, I do not consider the Damned, or the Smiths, or Black Flag, or anything from that era to be emom though certainly a precursor and the number one influence of it. And enjoying one band of the genre wouldn't make you a freak of the music as a whole anyway.

Anyway, liking the Damned and calling you an emo freak would be like my enjoyment of Run-D.M.C. (and one Public Enemy release) making me a hip-hop fan.

Rest easy, I don't think the Damned is Emo music. Morrissey, maybe. But not the Damned.
