Definitely better over the last five years - I completed my degree, just got a couple of post graduate qualifications, found myself the most amazing man in the world and have just been offered a rather cool job. So, yes, all in all, a good five years. Definitely better than anything previously.

Worse, definitely. We are taxed to hell, Our salary is worth far less. We are inundated by asylum seekers and illegal immigrants. 5 years ago the company I work for was staffed by a 95% British workforce. Foreign workers prepared to work for bottom dollar have now forced out good people who deserve their jobs. Pay rises, even in line with inflation are difficult if not impossible to secure because migrant workers hold them down.
The situation can only get worse.

My life has consideraby improved in the last five years.
I have secured freedom from my overposessive wife. I can travel now anywhere in the world with any person I desire.
My son has more or less taken over my Real Estates business. So i have secured freedom from my work also. I have more time to think, feel, and dream.
My daughter is having the most caring husband. she has two lovely kids, who have given me a new connection with this world.Playing with them, is my biggest joy.

Better:
finished my MSc, have a patent for an invention, got rid of people I detest (I mean eliminated from my circle, not physically eliminated!!), made good friends, moved to a more organised country, got a good job, am writing a book... enough to get me through the day! And have a loving family, even though they are two time zones away...

Worse, much, much worse. My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer in Aug 1999. In Aug 2005 she lost her long battle, leaving me & our 4 beautiful children.. We had been together since we were 15 years old & married for almost 30 years. She died 3 weeks before her 50th birthday. We all miss her so much, I am totally lost without her.

Better, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor and it was like a curtain lifting. I saw life for what it really was and not this self involved/opinionated woman who I used to be!
