Depens where the money goes, I think it will be a spin off of global warming, and some new disaster theory,
Bird flu will resurface soon there is bound to be an outbreak in a western area soon, that way more monet can be pumped into smithkline beecham.

Now the the Antartic is melting again (it did a long time before man turned up) the oil can be got at so maybe we will see the invasion by the free world to free the penguins from there oppressive emperor.

How big?
I reckon another 500 years or so and there will be mutants. Where humans can communicate directly with machines. Some anyway.
More immediate? Hopefully that chunk of of dead volcano on the Canary Islands sliding into the sea. But no worries, like the Chilies said: "And tidal waves couldn't save the earth from Californication"
