go to your local zoo and ask for a bag or either lion or tiger pooh!!
It really works as your cat will smell the bigger cats and steer well clear.
Paignton zoo does it I know that cos I have got it there before!!
Just mix it in with some normal dirt in the garden and spread it around.
If that don't work try fresh orange peel. The zest stings their eyes but it doesn't hurt them.
It can look a bit ugly on the ground but the cats will soon get the message.
Unfortunately cats are a law unto themselves and they will always find a way of creeping back in. Just stay one step ahead!!

Get a cat yourself. Being territorial it will keep other cats out of your garden and, invariably, go next door to 'do it's business'!!
Now I don't have a cat my garden is favourite territory for many of the neighbourhood cats

Moth balls will work if you don't want them using the area around you house as a cat box. Maybe it'll work for the garden too. It's worth a try.

I've heard that putting orange peels around on the ground in your garden will keep cats away because they can't stand the smell. I suppose you'd have to refresh them often...but at least you'll be getting plenty of vitamin C!

Like someone above said, there are different sprays that can keep animals out of your yard. If you know the owner of the cats, you could confront them, and tell them what you will do the next time their cats are in your yard.

My parents got a dog for that reason. That fixed the cat problem for good.
