"smartliketra..." is correct, those "Chlorine" tabs for pools are not really Chlorine [gas], they are usualluy Calcium Hypochlorite.

It's not pure chlorine in the pellet, it's actually a chlorine compound, usually calcium hypochlorite.

Your pool chlorine tablets are NOT, in fact, elemental or molecular chlorine (Cl2). They are in fact chlorine bleach, or calcium hypochlorite (as the others have noted).

just as they liqify oxigen and hydrogen gas at cryogenic temperatures, it is possible to liquify and then solidify chlorine.
the technology may be there in space crafts.
