Every company has to appoint an auditor in each annual general meeting to hold an office for a year until the next annual general meeting . If no auditor is in office for a company the court may make an appointment upon receiving any application from a shareholder of the company.

For a newly incorporated company the directors may appoint the first auditor to hold office until the end of the company first annual general meeting. If the directors fail to appoint such first auditor, the shareholders may appoint the first auditor in the general meeting.
