I know that if the man buy shares of listed company in Hong Kong, the amount would not be involved as it is just a the form of changing the money. But is the situation of buying shares of American companies the same?

The answer for the first question is that donation does not involve production, but wealth transfer instead.
The answer for the second question is that to purchase foreign share in overseas will enhance investment and it is a component of GDP.
If you buy any share in domestic place it only involves wealth transfer but when you buy share from overseas location it includes iin GDP and decrease Balance of Payment.
