Having a bat flying into your house is considered a good sign in Chinese traditions. It is because the word for "Bat" in Chinese shares the same pronunciation with the word "Luck".
In Taiwan, this is the reason why people normally would not get rid of the bats that fly into their houses. Instead, they think of it as a sign for good luck!
Scientifically speaking, most bats do not bring harms to human; they actually help us getting rid of pests such as flies and mosquitoes by consuming those insects as food.
However, human civilizations have destroyed most of the bats' living habitats; it is getting harder to see them in the cities. Next time when you find a bat visiting your house, please don't get rid of them in a hurry. They might bring you good luck.
