其實這個動詞由兩個字組成
分別是xeno和phobia
sino-作為詞首也許你聽過，就是中國的意思；但xeno作為字首又作何解，是解作”外國的”，”異鄉的”，”陌生的”（但這外國不是相對中國而言）
而phobia就是”懼怕”之意，我們所熟悉的”狂犬症”就是”hydrophobia"，hydro解作水，因狂犬症見水就怕，所以有這名。
因此，xenophobia就是對外國的（人或物或習俗等）無理的懼怕或極度的不喜歡：
Cambridge Online Dictionary就有以下解釋：extreme dislike or fear of foreigners, their customs, their religions, etc.
