對此句的句型架構不太懂(than...of)

Perhaps, the problem is less one of the word chosen, than of an artificially hypersensitive reaction to it.

1. 請問than 跟 of 的中間是否省略掉了(the problem)呢?

In this case, one means a problem.
在 "than" 跟 "of"之間省了 "one" 或 "a problem".

有點英式中文...
可能,這個問題比較不是個用字的問題,而是針對用的字而裝出來的過度敏感反應的問題.

"the problem is less one of the words chosen," "one" 在這個phrase裏是指 "a problem," 而不是 "a word." 所以,它的意思是,
"the problem is less a problem of the words chosen." 但 "problem" 在句子開頭就講了,再用 "a problem" 就 redundant.

Perhaps the problem is the missing of words in her reply instead of her hypersensitive reaction.

2. 也許真正的問題是她在她的回應中忽略了某些措辭，而不是她的反應過度．

我想我的猜測應該是八九不離十，但如果可以看到前後文，可能更確定作者要表達說什麼．

為什麼會怪怪的，幾個文法跟邏輯的考量：

1. One of the word：應該是words

2. Less one of the words：很少聽到有人這麼用，意思容易模糊，我個人覺得，或許可以請大家來分享

3. her... reaction to it：請問，to it 是 to what？不應該是句頭的problem，因為problem是在事後才產生的，不是之前，所以problem跟it應該是兩回事．這是邏輯上的問題．


這是我個人的想法，請大家多多指教．如果有前後文可能會有很大的幫助．
