先說[run-of-the-mine], 在這裡是形容"平凡無奇", "了無新意"的意思.
另外的寫法是: [run-of-mine]/[run-of-the-mill]

When the source is reliable, it is as different from the run-of-the-mine tip or the average broker's advice as gold is from clay.

如果(當)消息來源很可靠的的話, 它可是截然不同於那種平凡無奇的小道傳言, 或是那些來自平庸經紀人的投資建議. 就像黃金與泥土的差異一般.

等於這麼寫:

..., it is as different from the run-of-the-mine tip or the average broker's advice as gold is different from clay
