在這兒有答案: http://www.answers.com/roll%20call%20vote
裡面主要內容是:
(1) A recorded vote is a vote in which the names of those voting for and against a motion may be recorded.
The roll call vote is the only way to obtain a recorded vote
on a pending question.
The request for the roll call vote is known as the Yeas and Nays.
The request will be granted, if it is seconded by one-fifth of
the Senators present and a majority of Senators is present.
If granted and the debate ends, then a Senate Clerk calls
the Roll of Senators in alphabetical order.
Senators are technically required to vote from their seats,
responding "Aye" or "No" upon the call of their names.
In practice, however, Senators vote at the rostrum,
sometimes by giving a "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" signal.
The Senators vote from their desks only at the most formal times.
After the Clerk repeats the roll call, he waits at the rostrum for
further Senators to vote, that is open for at least 15 minutes.
(3) 在 US House of Representatives 有四種 recorded votes, 包含 roll call vote, 情況複雜, 我在此省略.
