It took him a lot of money for him to buy a fur coat.
( [intransitive and transitive] if something takes a particular amount of time, money, effort etc, that amount of time etc is needed for it to happen or succeed: ) 但是沒給相關例句 那這樣子take真的可以用於 「花多少錢」上嗎?

It took him a lot of money to buy her a fur coat.

It took him a lot of money to V..." It took a lot of money to V..."

Yes and no. To my ear, it is the word him that seems anomalous.
It took a lot of money to buy her a fur coat.

It seems to me that it is idiomatic to say
It takes/took a person a certain amount of time to do something.
But not
*It takes/took a person a certain amount of money to do something.

On the other hand, it seems all right to say
It takes/took a certain amount of money to do something.

But if you mention specific amounts, it doesn't seem correct.
*It took $12 to buy that sweater.
You would just say: That sweater cost $12.

1.物 cost 人 錢
例:The book cost me much money.
2. It take 人 錢/時間 toV
例:It took me much money to buy the book.
It took me two hours to find the answer.
3.人 spend 錢/時間 (on) Ving 物 (on可省略,因為on的關係,所以後面的動詞變成Ving)
例: I spent much money buying the book.

take/cost/spend

It took me three hundred dollars to buy a coat.
2. 也能用spend
I spent three hundred dollars buying a coat.
This coat cost me three hundred dollars.

I don't know exactly what's the differences between a certain amount of money or a certain period of time. My professors didn't think it wrong while I wrote it in this way. Believe it or not, I don't really think it a big deal.
