英文寫作文法檢驗

Question

Last Sunday , John stayed up all night studying for his midterm examination . It was three o ' clock , but he still had English , History , Math (...) and so on to finish . His (kitty) was sleeping beside him (with a lovely smile) . And the moon was high in the sky . (May) 7 th , John had the exam at ten o'clock . He was so tired that he fell asleep in the test . While others (paid attention on the test) , John just dreamed that he got one hundred points . But , eventually , he only got forty - nine points in the end . His teacher was so angry about it . John was very upset . (He had done so much) to get good grades . He was worrying about how to (account for) this to his mother .

我會用文法,但我通常不會解釋的很好.英文不是在台灣學的.最好還是去問老師一下.

History , Math (...) and so on to
History , Math and so on to
比較正式的英文不用點點點來代表等等.而且"and so on"已經有等等的意思了.

His (kitty) was sleeping beside him (with a lovely smile).
His cat was was sleeping beside him.
可能kitty太不正式了.沒聽過人用"with a lovely smile"在貓身上.

(May) 7th,
On May 7th,
日期要用on.

While others (paid attention on the test),
While others paid attentions to the test,
While others worked on the test,
多過一種可能.

(He had done so much) to get good grades.
He did so much to get good grades.
He tried so hard to get good grades.
多過一種可能.

to (account for) this to
to explain this to
"account for this"後面加"to"很怪.用"explain"比較對.

1 Math (...) and so on﹕ Math與and之間不可以加 ... 但必須加逗點: Math, and so on.
2 kitty﹕如果是名字﹐第一個字母要大寫﹐小寫的話就是一般貓咪的代名詞﹐因此我不認為有什麼錯誤。
3 with a lovely smile﹕「帶著」微笑用with是正確的﹐這點﹐我也不認為有什麼錯誤。老師可能認為你應該把with a lovely smile移到sleeping與beside之間直接修飾 sleeping﹐而不該擺到句尾。
4 May﹕在...天﹐要把on加在日期前面。
5 paid attention on the test﹕on 要改成to
6 He had done so much﹕這是我們常犯的毛病﹐“過去完成式”必須有個“過去式的子句”做為參考點﹐而不該單獨使用﹐因此在這句中﹐你只能用He did so much這種“簡單過去式”。關於“過去完成式”的正確用法我在下面的發問中有說明﹕http://tw.knowledge.yahoo.com/question/question?qid=1106091907341
7 (account for) this to his mother﹕一般的用法通常都是account先接「人」再接「事」﹐也就是﹕account to his mother for this


我不敢說我精通文法﹐可能是我錯也可能是老師錯﹐因為老師也會有錯的時候。

文中修改處已有其它先進回答，茲不贅述。只是kitty的用法，我個人認為並無不妥，畢竟這只是篇小故事，不是正式的報告或論文。Google一下，就可發現老外也是這樣用的。建議您和老師討論看看，或許他有更高明的見解。

可以考英檢中級嗎？我的想法和樓上的不太一樣，我覺得你應該可以通過英檢中級，因為從你作文中已有完整構句（主詞＋動詞＋受詞），你也注意到時態，整體來說，我覺得你的程度算是不錯的了！只要再多背些片語或觀察母語人士的寫作，應該可以讓你的作文更完美、更道地。
