Explore wide, yet garner with caution;
be erudite, yet comment with consideration.
之所以譯為 Explore wide, yet garner with caution;
而 be erudite, yet comment with consideration.

Discover indiscriminatingly, hoard selectively
Explore expansively, extract prudently

Think ambiguously, act prudently.
Listen eagerly, talk humbly.

Studying aims at reading as extensively as possible while being able to acquire the gist and the
quitessence of the content and then proceed to make good use of the knowledge prudently with a
bushel of learning.

Studying involves reading as extensively as possible.While being able to acquire, as far as
possible, the quintessence of the content of the study matter, students should then proceed to
make good use of the knowledge gained, prudently and in the light of their existing learning.

Just for kicks:

Distill real knowledge from expansive reading; convey in simple terms the knowledge rooted in solid grounds.

or

Absorb only the gems gathered from broad survey, tell concisely the knowledge that spans wide.

or more elaborately:

Read broadly, but take in only the gems;
drill into the vast hoard from time to produce gems that shine.

Getting back to more traditional interpretation:

Read broadly, extract only the cream; devour knowledge with abandon only to show it off with reticence.

One should enrich his scholarship greatly but demonstrate it with reserve.
