Fig. 3.9 shows the standard flow rate of sealing water into lantern ring which was introduced in "Engineering Manual for Pump Design" issued by The Ministry of Agriculture and fishery.
From this Figure, the required water flow rate per one lantern ring may be considered as 101/min approximately.
The required cooling water flow rate (quantity) for jacket, under around n=1800 rpm, is as shown in Table 3.7, through depending on pump revolutions, pressure and depth of stuffing box, etc
The dimensions of stuffing boxes are specified, as given in Fig. 3.10, in ISO Standards and JIMS Standard as applicable to pumps. Table 3.8 gives the troubleshooting instructions for gland packing.
