http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cable_car
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gondola_lift

Gondola=cable car,這在「貓空纜車」這個case上,是無庸置疑的。

根據 "The New Webster's Encyclopedic Dictionary of the English Language", Gondola 的定義如下:
1. a long, narrow, flat-bottomed boat, rowed by an oarsman at the stern; used on the canals in Venice, Italy.
2. a passenger compartment suspended beneath a balloon or ariship.
3. an enclosed cabin suspended from an overhead cable, used to transport passengers, as up and down a ski slope.
4. Also called "gondola car", an open reailroad freight car with low sides, for transporting bulk freight and manufactured goods.

Gondola

its not gondola, its not usual to use " gondola" in Western world! I guess the city officials probably just go to the dictionary to find the word, but no one use that in real world! At least I've never heard of that.

I guess it should be " Ariel Tramway", which is the system, the cable car is more like the thing that we sit in! Ariel Tramway is the official term that people use!
