My teacher tell us that the extraction method of copper is carbon reduction,
but from my chemistry book, it says "Cu are extracted from their ores by heating in air.
Which is right?Why?

Your teacher is correct.
There is no reaction when the oxide of copper is heated in air. Actually, copper(II) oxide is obtained when copper is heated in air.
