scratch高中只學到三個意思
1. 刮、劃、抓
Ex:

意思是
(Emmy在地上畫出一條線，並告訴Tommy不可以月過那條線)

2. 潦草地塗寫
EX:
Mother scratched a shopling list for me before going out.
(媽媽出門前潦草地寫了張購物單給我)

3. 刮痕、劃痕、抓痕
Ex:
Amazingly, the girl survived the car crash without a scratch.
(令人驚訝的是，這名女性在這場車禍中生還，身上一點傷痕都沒有)

書上還寫一個片語
勉強過日子

為什麼可以這樣用，他又沒作「勉強」解

start from scratch 是一個特有的說法....翻譯成中文雖然是從頭始做起.......通常用在比如說做某件事情上面......e.g. building a house from scratch......不會聽到人家說 building a house from zero.....
scratch 作為動詞的意思就是刮.....像是刮刮樂.....scratch card (n.)
ok....這樣一來就可以了解 scratching a living的意思了...
就像 start from scratch, scratching a living 也是一個特有的說法....也有另外一種說法是 scraping a living.........
scratch & scrape 的意思都是刮......所以他的意思在形容要東刮刮西刮刮來湊錢...勉強糊口的意思
那scratch along呢也是一樣的意思只是比較簡化而已....就是說東湊西湊....
