However I think there's no exact rule, that it actually comes down to the way a Japanese feels is the more comfortable way to say something.

我覺得這句的結構怪怪的
逗點後面不是不能用 ''that'' 嗎?

Many thanks.

that it actually comes down to the way a Japanese feels is the more comfortable way to say something.

以句子結構來說,這裡的關係代名詞that是用來帶出 that it actually comes down to the way a Japanese feels 整個子句做名詞子句,並以這整個名詞子句作"that it actually comes down to the way a Japanese feels is the more comfortable way to say something. "這個句子的主詞(Subject),它的動詞(Verb)是 "is",而"the more comfortable way to say something"是它的主詞補語(Subject Complement)。

that 所引導的 (it actually comes down to the way a Japanese feels)這個句子是 ( is the more comfortable way to say something.)的主詞
再來 看到前面那一句 there's no exact rule, 這一句有沒有發現到他沒有很明白的表達出到底是什麼XX沒有 exact rule 而這個XX就是後面那一長串子句 that it actually comes down to the way a Japanese feels is the more comfortable way to say something

把他導正變成 That it actually comes down to the way a Japanese feels
is the more comfortable way to say something, however, I think there is no exact rule (to that matter).

不知道你明白了嗎^^

之後我整理出一個文法
that當作形容詞子句的關係代名詞時 前面不能有逗點
當名詞子句的關係代名詞時 前面可以有逗點

Hi, Kevin大大, 原句的確是沒有加AND的
Adam大大, 你說 that是名詞子句的連接詞
是指作think的受詞(I think) that it actually comes down....
還是作做rule的同位語呢?

Hi Master Adam,
According to 心星大大 and you, the complete sentence would be:

However I think there's no exact rule, AND [that it actually comes down to the way a Japanese feels] is the more comfortable way to say something.

2007-05-15 15:08:06 補充:
What confused me is the meaning of the sentence in a structure like this.
Can you translate it into Chinese?

2007-05-15 15:23:52 補充:
Actually I consider the sentence as:

However I think there's no exact rule that it actually comes down to [THAT the way a Japanese feels is the more comfortable way to say something].

2007-05-15 15:40:57 補充:
The first "that," as a conjunction, leads an adverbial clause, while the second one, also as a conjunction though omitted, leads a noun clause as the object of the phrase [to come down to].

然而我認為並無固定的規則可循, 所以結果就變成"以日本人的方式來說話才是比較輕鬆自在的方式".

Hi Kenny,
我知道原句是沒有加AND, 我只是把個人的解讀方式寫出.

2007-05-15 23:33:55 補充:
幾個問題請教Adam大師:
1.在下所解讀的方式在文法及語意上有何不妥之處?
(個人是對於"[that]引導名詞子句當[to]的受詞"有些疑慮)
2.可否勞煩大師把後半段的意思也翻譯出來, 以解在下之疑惑.

2007-05-15 23:34:13 補充:
3.Adam大師對前半段的解讀是:
(1)However, I think, there's no exact rule,...
or
(2)However I think (that) there's no exact rule,...
的哪一種呢?

2007-05-15 23:34:47 補充:
4.關於however的詞性, 字典上的說法:
(1)Adverb:
We will allow you to travel however you please.
However he did it, it was very clever.
Victory, however it was brought about, was sweet.
However he did it, it was very clever.

2007-05-15 23:35:49 補充:
(2)Conj:
Arrange your hours however you like.
Dress however you like.
I will help however I can.

However he did it, it was very clever.
您說的conj:
However you look at it, it was a wicked thing to do.

No matter how I think . . . 不管我怎樣(如何)地不認為有確切的規則可循

2. 承接上句,才有可能推出後半句為主要子句,是不需要加上 and 的:

That 所引導的到 feels 為止是名詞子句當主詞,is 是它的動詞,餘如心星大大所說的,已經很清楚了。

2007-05-15 16:11:59 補充:
However 在此句中等於 No matter how 的意思:

No matter how (hard) I tried to persuade him, he wouldn't listen.

However (hard) I tried to persuade him, he wouldn't listen.

2007-05-16 08:30:03 補充:
however 是連接詞,與我的解釋並沒有出入,你在字典上所找的例句皆是放在句尾,不代表它不可以放在句首(副詞子句的屬性基本上是放句首句尾皆可的):

However you look at it, it was a wicked thing to do. (這是Longman的例句)

我之前給的例句也是如此。
所以我對前半句的解讀是你上面所寫的第二個:
However I think (that) there's no exact rule.

我不覺得跟字典上所寫的有什麼出入耶。還是你誤解了我的意思?

2007-05-16 08:36:37 補充:
此外Kenny 大所問的,that 引導名詞子句時它只有連接詞的功能,並沒有名詞的屬性,所以它既不可以是主詞,也不會是受詞;而且它也不會是 rule 的同位語,因為同位語也不可能會是另一個句子的主詞。

that 只是一個很單純引導名詞子句,而這整個名詞子句是當作主要子句的主詞罷了:
However S + V (副詞子句,此副詞子句中還有一個名詞子句 there's no exact rule), 主要子句 (此主要子句主詞為 "that . . . feels",動詞為 is).

這句話的基本架構就是如此,不要想太複雜了。我可以照樣寫出更多這樣的句子來:

2007-05-16 08:44:48 補充:
However I tried to believe (that) he didn't do it, that he lied is a fact.

However they convince me that I shall fail, that it must be done is non-negotiable.
. . . . 都是依照原句的結構對照下寫的.

2007-05-16 08:50:17 補充:
至於 Kevin 大要求這句話的翻譯,我不逐字翻,我把大意說一下就好了:

僅管我不認為(不管是如何地來看待)有明確規範告訴你要怎麼表達某一件事,不過終歸還是顧慮到日本人的感受來說是比較適切妥貼的吧。

OR:

What do you want?
可是儘管字典沒有說 what 是連接詞(whatever 也是如此),
可是這樣的句子 I don't know what you want.
我仍會將 what 解釋成連接詞。
我用來解釋這句話的 however 也是一樣的道理。

再更簡單一點來說,就是:
however (單字)詞性屬副詞,(句法)功能屬連接詞。
(英文的連接詞其實也都是本身也含有副詞或名詞的詞性,但在功能上它還是用來接句子的)
