not only but also用法...

not only but also裡面的V前面可以加 to嗎?

我的問題 :
原句是這樣：The Communist party seized power in China, it was their belief that, in order both to modernize China and to eliminate economic injustice, it was necessary to make radical changes in society.

我想要改成這樣：
The Communist party took hold of power in China, and wanted to make complete changes that not only (to) modernize China but also (to) eliminate economic injustice.

其中的 to 要可以加進去嗎?

要是沒加的話跟原意一樣吧??

不可以加:
The Communist party took hold of power in China, and wanted to make complete changes that not only modernize China but also eliminate economic injustice.
因為這兩個是關係子句(that...)的主要動詞. 主詞就是關係代名詞that, 代表changes.

如果要加, 應該這麼寫:
The Communist party took hold of power in China, and wanted to make complete changes not onlyto modernize China but also to eliminate economic injustice.
這時候這兩個不定詞(to V)當副詞用, 修飾動詞make, 表目的. 而[to make]這個不定詞當名詞用, 是動詞wanted的受詞.

舉兩個較簡單的例子:

He is a good student that not only studies hard but also loves to help classmates.
2.
He tries to make money not only to feed his family but also to pay his tuition.

not only but also 的文法是 not only [N/adj] but also [N/adj]

所以你這邊的 to+V以文法來說應該是沒錯的，但建議改成Ving (比較常用，也較不會被誤認為是錯誤的文法)

如果不加to的話，要改成過去/完成式 (這是形容詞的用法)

一般來講，not only but 黏得滿緊的，的意思是，我們會把to放到前面，直接控制兩個動詞(藉由這個連接詞)。

看下例：He wanted to eat not only soup but also ice-cream.
而不說：He wanted not only to eat soup but also to eat ice-cream.

P.s. 上句範例要注意的是，喝湯我們用eat soup而不用drink soup。此外，not only but also中的also可以省略不寫。
