Ayumi Hamasaki makes scene with bodyguards in restaurant
中譯: 濱崎步與保鑣引人側目
剛剛看到TAIPEI TIME中的這個新聞標題中用到了makes scene
可是就我所查, 只有看到 ''make a scene'' 或 ''make the scene'' 甚至
''make scenes'' 等用法, 前面大都會使用冠詞.
其無冠詞用法在新聞中是可被接受的嗎?
MANY THANKS.

Hi, klee

Ayumi Hamasaki makes scene with bodyguards in restaurant
一般文章句子寫法:
Ayumi Hamasaki made a scene with her bodyguards in a restaurant.
此句的冠詞 a, 代名詞 her和句點都被省略了
而且雖然是過去發生的事,但在標題上就使用現在式來描述新聞事件。
---------------------------------------------------------------------
此句的"make a scene"並非是指丟人現眼的意思
而是引人側目,注意 ,引起騷動的意思
make a scene
Also, create a scene; make an uproar.
Make a public disturbance or excited emotional display.

Most news heads contain a subject and a predicate (a "who" and a "what"). Usually articles such as "the," "a" and "an" are omitted. Often verbs are implied.
For example, the sentence "A merger is underway, says the CEO"
in headlinese would read: "Merger underway, says CEO."
Even though most news events have already happened,
headlines are usually written in present tense.
This makes the story more vivid and immediate and saves space, too.
Compare:
(past tense) Bartel Industries netted a software contract
(present tense) Bartel Industries nets software contract
The second headline gives same information while being shorter and more powerful.

報紙標題一律可以省去冠詞,
如:USA looks unbeatable in medal race、
Former cop faces trial in Irvin case不少讀者就是看了英文報紙標題文字都沒有冠詞,誤以為英文冠詞都可任意省略,
所以在文章裡寫I plan to study in USA.這是錯的,正確的寫法是I plan to study in the USA.。記住,標題可以寫的方式,一般文章不一定可以,別被誤導。
人物的職稱之前,習慣上也都要省略冠詞,如:Bill Gates is Chariman and CEO of Microsoft Corporation.
Nathan, Ph.D. is Group Vice President at Microsoft Corporation.
Bill was elected President again.
Paul became captain of the team.
Did you see Queen of England?

在新聞標題中,經常用現在式來描述新聞事件,英文報紙是報導昨天發生了甚麼事情,照時態來看,應該用過去式才對,但新聞主編為了讓這則新聞看起來像是正在發生的,是一條新鮮的新聞,而不是過去的舊聞,所以在標題上就使用現在式來描述新聞事件。但內文就回覆到正常的過去式了。

Ayumi Hamasaki makes scene with bodyguards in restaurant 中譯: 濱崎步與保鑣引人側目 -----
"make a scene"(丟人現眼)才是正確的用法.
猜想是因為用在新聞標題中,考量精簡的緣故,所以在不影響意思的情況下,把不定冠詞省去.但也可能就是"a"被遺漏了.

依據English-Test.Net網站討論一則ESL/EFL Test 考題,是有關"made a scene"的意思,正確答案正是"acted like a fool".

(接上)另有自稱是"Moderator"(主持人)的人士解釋他對"make a scene"所認為的意思:'Make a scene' suggests that you make a fool of yourself because you are behaving in a stupid way and attracting attention to yourself. (網址:http://www.english-test.net/forum/ftopic14103.html)
