In recycling of plastics, different types of plastics are separated before pyrolysis (breaking into monomers by heating).
Otherwise, polymerization and copolymerization (polymerization with different monomers) most probably occur when fractional distillation is used to separate the monomers.

2.
Both diamond and graphite have liquid state (liquid state of carbon). You can find the melting points and boiling point of diamond and graphite.
Refer to the reference below, carbon exists as C3 to C5 molecules in liquid state.
(Some substances do not have liquid state. They decompose before melting.)
