If you test for the presence of -COCH3 in a organic compound by adding I2(aq) followed by NaOH(aq), the test is called triiodomethane test or iodoform test.
If you convert the compound RCOCH3 to RCOO- by adding I2(aq) followed by NaOH(aq), the reaction is called triiodomethane reaction or iodoform reaction.
The equation is :
RCOCH3 + I2 + Na+OH- → RCOO-Na+ + CHI3

There is NO such compound R-CHOH(-)(Na ) as in the first replier's answer.

This is because it will exist as RCH2O(-)Na( ) instead, which is NOT the product of triiodomethane reaction.
