Alguien sabe como se usa bien el verbo regret?

Aquí te va:
1) "If I had to do something... It would be a tattoo"
"If I had to do something... It'd be a tattoo"
2) "Let's hope we have an excellent year"
3) "What do you regret?"
"What are you regretful for?"
4) "I'm regretful"
"I'm sorry"
El verbo regretful, en los casos en que lo usas, es más un adjetivo que verbo. Así que no te preocupés por eso.

regret es parecido a sorry, ya que ambos significan estoy arrepentido. Sencillamente, quedate con la que te suene mejor y hecho.

(igual creo que quedaria mejor si dijeras: If I had to make me something on my body....it would be a tattoo). Al decir "on my body", el mensaje llega mas claro para tu interlocutor.
2) I hope we have an excellent year.
3) What do you regret of?
4) I'm regretful.
En el caso de la número 4, acordate de decir por qué estás arrepentida. Ejemplo: He felt regretful over his vanished youth.....She felt regretful over mistakes she had made.
Usos del verbo Regret :
Regret : sadness associated with some wrong done or some disappointment; "he drank to drown his sorrows"; "he wrote a note expressing his regret".
Regret : be sorry; " I regret to tell you that you didn't gain admission to Harvard.
Regret : decline formaly or politely; "I regret I can't come to the party".
