"little darling"

or:"funny and/or pretty looking in a funny way" exp for kids.

But it can mean "a little expensive" too, as it depends on the context as well

Marcelo, In Italy they have diminutive which you mentioned, but they also have others, for example; Casa=house
Casina (diminutive)
Casetta (vezzeggiativo)
Casone (accrescitivo)
Casaccia (dispreggiativo)

Carino, or Caruccio = cute

I hope this helps you to understand.

"Caruccio" in Italian means that someone or something is small or nice, loving, beautiful, and so on. The form "-uccio" in the end refers effectively to a way for doing diminutives, like "-ino". I hope my answer has cleared your doubts. See you!
