關於英文時間..half 和quarter的用法

Question

我想請問...
half 和 quarter是不是只能用在先寫 分鐘..再寫點鐘的用法...
ex..8:15--a quarter after eight
可不可以..eight a quarter 呢..
又為什麼 half 前不加a--ex 8:30--half after eight
quarter前..卻要加a 呢??
麻煩大家摟...

half是一半ㄉ意思
時間上用作半小時

quarter 是四分之一的意思
時間上用作15分鐘<因為60ㄉ四分之一是15>

例:
8:15--a quarter after eight
這個是對ㄉ喔!

8:30--half after eight
應該要寫成eight and a half 吧!

PS因為quarter是可數ㄉ喔!
在美國quarter是錢<向台灣ㄉ1 .5 .10 .50元一樣>
但half不行

如果還是不懂ㄉ話
這樣說ㄅ
quarter就是硬幣
<像是一元 十元 .....>
所以可數
<例如:一個一元 兩個一元 十個一元 等等>

quarter也可以用一個 兩個 等等


但half不可數
沒有人用:
a half , two halfsㄉ

補充一下

quarter的用法亮京京和梅子綠茶兩位都說對了
不過half的正確用法以例句來說是

8:30 --> half past eight (直譯就是八點過了一半)


口語說法常會聽到 quarter till, quarter after, half past 後面不加數字.
比方像我們都知道現在是近九點, 但是確實時間不知道, 如果現在是
9:15, 就會聽到 it's quarter after.
8:45, 就會聽到 it's quarter till. (9:45也會有人這樣說, 那就是還差15分鐘十點)
9:30, 就會聽到 it's half after.

2. A quarter after eight, quarter after eight are all okay. A can be omitted.
3. A half after eight is wrong - 習慣用法. See below:

In fact, we can actually say “quarter”, instead of “a quarter”, when we’re talking about the time. If you asked me the time at 6.15, I might well say “quarter past six”, instead of “a quarter past six” – but that’s pretty conversational, and “a quarter” is more normal if we’re speaking carefully, or writing.

And certainly, as you say, we never say “a half” when we’re talking about time; say, “half past six”, or even “half six”, but not “a half past six”.

Interestingly, we also use “half” without “a” in other situations, and not just when we’re giving the time. For example, if I eat half an orange – that’s how I say it! But, I would say “a quarter of an orange”, not “quarter of an orange”.

So that’s it: we say “a quarter past four”, not “a half past four” – just one of those irregular things.

A half past 。 沒有人這樣的用。 沒有理由，背起來。
A quarter past 8. A 可以省略。Quarter past 8 is okay.
