根據行政院新聞局出版的年英文版《台灣年鑑》（Taiwan Yearbook），其中民間信仰篇有關「王爺」的寫法，直譯是寫為「Wang Ye」，英譯則寫為複數的「deities」，請按這裏參考這一段http://english.www.gov.tw/Yearbook/index.jsp?categid=29&recordid=52743：
Taiwan's Wang Ye 王爺 deities are believed to be celestial emissaries sent by the heavens to ensure the safety of mankind by driving away evil spirits and eradicating epidemics. There are said to be 360 Wang Ye in Taiwan, but the religious practices surrounding each of these celestial lords are different, depending on the locality and the time of year. Wang Ye are often worshiped together in groups of three or five.

至於「元帥」的翻譯，美籍人士康鮑先生（PAUL RUSSELL　KATZ），他是耶魯大學歷史學士、普林斯頓大學東亞博士，經歷包括中央大學歷史研究所教授以及中央研究院近代史研究所副研究員等等，他的個人檔案http://www.ihp.sinica.edu.tw/~ihpcamp/prof/katz-paul.htm，他是把「元帥」翻成「Marshal」，例如「溫元帥」就是「Marshal Wen」。
康鮑在漢學研究中心發表過一篇與溫元帥相關的英文學術論文，篇名就是Plague God Cults in Late Imperial China: A Case Study of the Cult of Marshal Wen（http://www.ihp.sinica.edu.tw/~ihpcamp/prof/katz-paul.htm）
