If you send it through mail or any carrier (FEDEX and UPS ship to Brazil), you'll pay 60% over the $800 (i.e. $480 in taxes). And somewhere I read you cannot ship anything over $500 to Brazil, but I don't have the reference here.

That's why most people simply carry the phone with them, or let smugglers take care of the job.

Good day,
There is no import tax in Brazil for goods (gifs) up to US$ 800. You cam simply send it via mail indicating the nature of the good, value and the fact it's a gift (including the bill is preferable). If the cellphone costs more than 800 $ by a cheaper one.

Hello!

The import tax in Brazil is very high indeed, something around 19%. I may say that all brazilians have the right to "bring" goods until a limit of USD 500,00 withour paying the import tax. Anything above this amount must pay taxes.

Good luck!
