原本心中很確定是用on,但最近看到一本國中參考書說也可以用for
到底是哪一個對，還是兩者皆可？

後面要接何種介係詞有是要看受詞決定:
#時間+with+somebody
I want to spend more time with my family.
(你是花時間"與"家人在一起)
#金錢+on+something
She spends most of her salary on clothes.
(你花錢"在"衣服上面)
但在網路上,也可以看到''for''的用法
How much did you spend for/on your Video card.
上面這例句,用on或用for似乎意思相去不遠
我覺得還是要看"'花......東西"在"何物上''

但假如文章出現大量的spend...on...
作者可能就會把部分的spend...on...改成spend...for
兩者在文法上均對

使用在花(錢)上是+on&for皆可
使用在花(時間、精力)上是+on
