對空中英語教室裡的句子,請解惑

其中''wreath''不是被掛的嗎,為何不用被動呢?
是否有其它東西是有''被''人做
但是動詞卻是用主動式呢?

2. If enemies accidentally met underneath mistletoe,they had to hug and

這裡的''accidentally''我可以改成''by accident''or''by mistake''

還是要If enemies met underneath mistletoe''by accident'',they had to hug and

用法有不同嗎?

Hillman兄解釋得很好, 我也講一下自己的觀點.
個人覺得是先有語言, 歸納後才有文法. 因為英美有下列的用法:
She hangs her coat on the hook.
她把外套掛在掛鉤上.
Her coat hangs well on her.
外套穿在她身上很好看.
於是文法規則就會出現對應的"解釋條文".
但是, 所有的動詞都可以這麼用嗎?
He answers the question easily. (O)
他毫不費力地回答問題.
The question answers easily. (?)
這個問題答起來很容易. (?)
所以, 所謂的規則, 可以參考, 卻因為有太多的例外而使其可靠性大打折扣. 學到一個背一個比較實在.
請指教.

問題1.
這個句子的主部：Wreaths
與述部：hang on the front doors of many homes at Christmas.
當述部是描述主部的特性時，述部動詞不可使用被動語態（但有被動的意涵）

例如：
1-1) We cook apples - 此時cook為及物動詞，可用主動。
1-2) Apples cook well - 此時cook 為不及物動詞，且述部是描述apples的特性，故不可使用被動，而以主動呈現。
2) This pen write well. 這支筆很好寫。
3) This book sells well. 這本書賣得很好。
4) This report reads well. 這報告讀起來很有趣。

問題2. by accident 「意外地」；但 by mistake 「錯誤地」意思就差有點遠了。

問題3. 這兩句並無不同，因為副詞可置於其所修飾的動詞 met 的前面與後面。
