我"發現"他"坐"在爐火旁.
一個句子中有兩個動詞, 在英文的句子中是必須加以處理的.

I found that [he was seated by the fire.]
that 所引導的名詞子句可以改為不定詞片語:
I found him to be seated by the fire.
to be 常常省略:
I found him seated by the fire.

1. 要表達坐著可用 sit 或 be seated
seat (v) --- 使...就座, 若要表達主詞本身坐下
則要用 seat oneself = be seated
例如 He seats himself on the floor. = He was seated on the floor.
2. S + find + O + 原形V/V-ing/ p.p.
接 p.p.時, 是表達被動語態
例--- Nancy found her dog killed.
所以我發現他坐在火旁邊, 要寫成
I found him seated by the fire.

(不是 He was seated on the floor. 時態弄錯了, sorry!)
