Why don't presidents fight the war? Why do they always send the poor? Why don't we react about it?
I know it's a SOAD lyric, but it's also a very valid and truthful question.
In most wars, it's the poor who end up doing most, if not all, of the fighting.
The US situation is the most recent and obvious example, republican senators supported the war, yet they did not send their children, or went to do the fighting themselves.
But also countless of examples can be found historically. From the world wars, to the falklands war that we endured here in Argentina.
Why is it that most of the rulers that die-hardedly support war almost never end up fighting themselves? And, more importantly, how come most of the rest of us are not able to react properly when faced with this hard truth about the unfairness and hypocrisy of war and the system we live in?
