Thermistors are made of semiconducting materials such as silicon or germanium. The charge carriers are both positive (holes) and negative (electrons). The number of charge carriers present in the semi-conductor depends much on temperature. At higher temperature, more charge carriers are produced and this increases the electrical conductivity of the material, i.e. a decrease of resistance.
