Life does not cease to be funny when people die any more than it ceases to be serious when people laugh. 這句話有點拗口，得先動點手術重組一下，蕭伯納他人家的原意才能重現：

When people die, the life does not cease to be funny.
When people laugh, the life does not cease to be serious.

經過這一番整理，就能把原文譯成：「生命的意義不因為個人的生死、哀樂而轉變其快樂有趣和痛苦嚴肅的本質。」
