這是「愛麗斯夢遊仙境」作者Lewis Carroll為了暗喻英國維多利亞女王時代專制無道干涉司法，在該書中有麼一段對話：

'Let the jury consider their verdict,' the King said, for about the twentieth time that day. 王夫在當天已經說了第21次：「讓陪審團考慮被告是否有罪。」
'No, no!' said the Queen. 'Sentence first - verdict afterwards.' 女王回答：「不！絕不！先判刑再定罪。」
'Stuff and nonsense!' said Alice loudly. 'The idea of having the sentence first!' 愛麗斯大聲反駁:「先判刑是愚蠢無理的想法。」
'Hold your tongue!' said the Queen, turning purple.女王臉色轉成紫色答道：「閉嘴！」
'I won't!' said Alice. 愛麗斯答道：「我不接受！」
