1)沒有錯，是一句phrase，因為主要句子是”John has become stupid”
2)而has become是用了應在完成式，這句是強調John由已經變得愚蠢（由以往直至現在）

1. 由於because of 後面只會跟名詞(noun)，所以disuse of his brain不需有verb，是一個noun phrase(以超過一個字組成的名詞)，.而如果只用because的話，就要跟clause(完整句子)了
2. has become 其實係present perfect tense(現在完成式)，形式是has/have+p.p(過去分詞)，become在這裡其實是個過去分詞，只是佢剛好和現在式的串法一樣罷了
