Because of disuse of his brain, John has become stupid.

1/. 以上那句的:Because of disuse of his brain 為何沒有 verb ?

是否屬於 一句 phrase ?

2/. 在第二句:has become 又是什麼句式 ? 好像不是 時態喎!

1)沒有錯,是一句phrase,因為主要句子是”John has become stupid”
2)而has become是用了應在完成式,這句是強調John由已經變得愚蠢(由以往直至現在)

對唔住!不是應在完成式,是現在完成式

1. 由於because of 後面只會跟名詞(noun),所以disuse of his brain不需有verb,是一個noun phrase(以超過一個字組成的名詞),.而如果只用because的話,就要跟clause(完整句子)了
2. has become 其實係present perfect tense(現在完成式),形式是has/have+p.p(過去分詞),become在這裡其實是個過去分詞,只是佢剛好和現在式的串法一樣罷了

"Because of disuse of his brain" => Subordinating Conjunction Clause

"John has become stupid." => Independent Clause
