1.
metals are extracted in the soil and used. however, after using (eg, old iron window frame, unused steel, aluminium foil, etc.) the products, they're disposed in the landfilling sites. these metal resources cannot be restored and mined again. this means that such resources are wasted directly, although they still exist on the Earth.
2.
deforestation means cutting down of trees in a large scale. it causes a lot of problems, such as global warming, losing of (endangered) species and biodiversity, etc.
3.
air pollutants are emitted into the air / atmosphere. these pollutants are harmful to humans' health, environment and buildings, including carbon dioxide (greenhouse gas----leading to global warming), methane (greenhouse gas), sulphur dioxide (acidic gas, causing acid rain), nitrous oxides (acidic gases & greenhouse gases), carbon particles (soot/ash, threatening health), and a lot more......
4.
similarly, pollutants are accumulated in the soil and can hardly be removed, which are harmful in various aspects. eg, lead particulates (from car exhaust), DDT (a pesticide), other heavy metals, etc.
5.
pollutants going into underground water...|| usually pollutants in the soil is washed and dissolve in the (rain) water, and penetrate through the soil and form the underground water.
6.
we're running out of land resources. the population is growing very rapidly, while land is limited for living, planting crops and other purposes like infra-structure and public facilities. to obtain more land, trees/forests are cut down (deforestation), hills are removed, seas are reclaimated, and other organisms' living environment is also affected, too.
